Good value in Paris

15 places for Good value in Paris, picked by creators — with what they said.

• Mama No Bento — Louis
An extremely well-balanced bento packed with 16 ingredients, praised as an 'as authentic as it gets' Japanese mother's bento that doesn't compromise for French tastes — even including nori (seaweed cookies). The reviewer found the value at 16.50 euros impressive.
Heads up: Closed on Sundays, and the interior is described as modest and unremarkable.
• Comme un Bouillon — Arielle in Paris
Praised as a wonderfully unpretentious, warm, traditional French home-style meal for a very low price — called their favorite bouillon in Paris.
Heads up: Described as a slightly hidden-gem bouillon; noted that since there's no tipping culture in France, the card machine doesn't even have a tip option.
• Sam Chic — Louis
Both reviewers called it 'the best Korean restaurant they've had in France' — the kimchi was the best they'd had in France and didn't shy away from spice, and the chicken was very moist even though it was grilled.
Heads up: About €15 per person excluding drinks, very cheap by Paris standards, and around half the menu is halal.
• LULU Crêperie — Mark Wiens
A thin, delicate buckwheat galette with melted cheese, a caramelized cheese crust on the bottom, fragrant sautéed mushrooms and ham, and crisp greens — a perfectly balanced plate he described as "unbelievably good."
Heads up: The portion is far bigger than expected — this is a full meal, not a snack.
• Rori Partners — Condé Nast Traveler
Praised the price point and simple concept as perfectly suited to Paris right now, calling the thin, crispy-crust pecorino slice — with pepper that isn't overdone — "perfect," and naming the Hawaiian slice one of their favorite pizzas in Paris.
Heads up: Noted that the Hawaiian slice, a limited-edition anniversary item, was quite spicy.
• Fric-Frac — Lucile
A proper croque monsieur with creamy béchamel, and at a reasonable €9
Heads up: Mentioned in the context of comparing prices, since plenty of places in Paris charge up to €27 for a croque monsieur
• Onigami — Louis
An 11-euro set is a rare price in Paris, and the reviewer praised the well-balanced onigirazu, where the rice doesn't overwhelm the fillings, along with the purple sweet potato tiramisu.
Heads up: The portions are small enough that the shop itself warns customers in advance (it's more of a quick lunch spot), the popular menu sold out so the reviewer couldn't try the 3 types of onigirazu, and the spicy sauce is quite hot.
• Brasserie Dubillot — Lucile
A short but well-judged menu of French classics — leeks vinaigrette, tartare, paupiette de veau — at very good prices, in a lively room.
Heads up: It's a "quick" meal by French standards, so don't expect to be done in under an hour, and the snails have a good sauce but a mushy texture.
• Mimi Ramen — Louis
Praised as having the thickest, most tender chashu of the day, chewy wavy noodles, and above-average menma, calling it 'the benchmark for Paris ramen.'
Heads up: Despite being tonkotsu, the broth tastes salty like a shio ramen and has a dairy-like quality, so the broth itself isn't special; the accompanying ginger was said to kill the broth's flavor. The vegetarian ramen was said to be weaker than at other spots. At €28 for two, it's about half the price of the previous shop.
• Frenchie — TOPJAW
Lamb balanced by the acidity of carrot and plenty of butter, a trout tartare, and seriously good value at €25 for two courses or €30 for three at lunch.
• Bouillon Pigalle — Locavore Eats
The profiteroles were excellent for €4.80, and ordering the full spread of bistro classics came to just €87 — unbeatable value.
Heads up: They say outright that the food isn't world-class — this is a place you go for value.
• Au P'tit Grec — Locavore Eats
The crêpes are loaded with chorizo, cheese, egg, potato and vegetables — like a whole food pyramid in one — and the generous fillings make for great value.
• L'As du Fallafel — Jeremy Jacobowitz
Said the falafel was crispy on the outside without ever being dry, with a strong tahini flavor, and that the creamy fried eggplant in the middle was the best part.
Heads up: Usually has a line, so it's best to go right when it opens; the inside is dark, and if you get takeout, the filling overflows so much that eating it by hand is hard — a fork may be needed.
• Higuma — Bappa Life
Praised the miso ramen broth and chashu as 'just like ramen in Japan,' calling it worlds apart from the ramen they'd had in Mexico.
Heads up: The noodles were a bit soft and the gyoza wrappers were somewhat thick — said Japan's version is better — and the kitchen is run by a Chinese chef.
• Le Petit Bouillon Pharamond — Messinger Guides
Praised for letting simplicity on the plate speak for itself rather than relying on decor, with food described as humble but delicious and consistent.
Heads up: Warned that anyone expecting a minimalist designer restaurant, shared plates, matcha lattes, or natural wine will be disappointed.
