Picks by Suitcase Monkey in London

21 places Suitcase Monkey went to in London — what they said, and what to watch out for.

• Borough Market — Suitcase Monkey
Said many vendors are the actual producers themselves — farmers who raised the livestock, fishermen who caught the fish, bakers who baked the bread — giving it a real sense of history and craftsmanship.
• Camden Market — Suitcase Monkey
Said the appeal lies less in the food itself and more in strolling along the canal and soaking up the lively music and fashion scene, and recommended the newer area by the eastern canal for a spot to sit and eat without getting jostled by crowds.
Heads up: Advised starting at the famous footbridge and heading further inside toward the Amy Winehouse statue — don't settle for the first stall near the entrance.
• Spitalfields Market — Suitcase Monkey
Said the sheer variety means anyone can find something to their taste, and being covered yet still feeling like an outdoor market makes it pleasant, bright, and clean year-round.
• Indi-go Rasoi — Suitcase Monkey
Said the chili chips are great, but the samosas were the tastiest food in the entire video.
Heads up: So popular that they ate them all before filming could happen.
• Maltby Street Market — Suitcase Monkey
Said that despite being a short stretch of only about 120 meters, it packs in a high density of food, and the elevated railway arch overhead creates a cozy, distinctive atmosphere.
Heads up: A 15-minute walk from London Bridge station.
• The Gun — Suitcase Monkey
Mentioned the pub food is excellent.
• Columbia Road Flower Market — Suitcase Monkey
Said it has the most old-school London market atmosphere on the list, with the energy of vendors shouting out flower names and prices being the best part.
Heads up: It's fundamentally a flower market, so don't expect a food market — you're meant to explore the surrounding shops and cafés too.
• Monsoon Cafe - Greenwich — Suitcase Monkey
Said to have an excellent selection of cakes and coffee.
• Mercato Mayfair — Suitcase Monkey
Strongly recommended the ice cream from the gelato stand, and said the hidden wine cellar downstairs and the rooftop terrace are especially good.
Heads up: The basement level is poorly signposted and easy to miss, so make a point of seeking it out.
• Seven Dials Market — Suitcase Monkey
Said it's the best choice on a cold, rainy day since it's entirely indoors, and being in the very heart of London makes it great for sampling a variety of food in winter.
Heads up: You need to go downstairs to reach the proper food court and communal seating.
• Portobello Road Market — Suitcase Monkey
Said antiques, curios, fashion, bookshops, and food stalls stretch all the way to Golborne Road, with the colorful surrounding houses also worth seeing.
Heads up: Takes more than 2 hours to see properly, and note the colorful houses people photograph are actual residents' homes.
• Greenwich Market — Suitcase Monkey
Said to be a great spot for handmade gifts thanks to the craft stalls that have been here since the mid-1980s.
Heads up: Advised to buy food at the main market and walk toward the river to eat it, for a much more relaxed experience.
• Brick Lane Market — Suitcase Monkey
A long, lively street in the East End, well worth visiting if you're in the area.
• Lock Tavern — Suitcase Monkey
• La Pepiá — Suitcase Monkey
Said the arepa, Venezuela's signature dish, topped with their signature melted cheese, is absolutely delicious.
Heads up: Mentioned in advance that it's very messy to eat.

• The Grocer — Suitcase Monkey
Said it's a nice pub with comfortable outdoor sofa seating.
• Nanny Bill's — Suitcase Monkey
Said both the burger and the croquettes are excellent (if heart-attack-inducingly greasy).
