Soho in London

14 places for Soho in London, picked by creators — with what they said.

• The Devonshire — TOPJAW, 셰프 안성재 Chef Sung Anh
They pour what might be the best pint of Guinness in England, and the wood-and-ember-grilled meat dishes upstairs are said to be fantastic. Even just the toasties, steak sandwiches, and Scotch eggs at the downstairs bar are worth the trip.
Heads up: Getting a seat isn't easy, but it's worth fighting for.
• Plaza Khao Gaeng Tottenham Court Road — TOPJAW
Praised as uncompromisingly authentic, original, and unlike any flavor profile found elsewhere. The signature massaman beef curry is the standout dish.
Heads up: Dishes like the seven spice chicken curry are extremely spicy (the spiciest item caused real struggle on camera), and it's tucked away on a mezzanine above the Arcade food hall, so it takes some effort to find.
• Goodman — 큰손 노희영
A dry-aged steak sliced thin in the British style, light yet packed with sealed-in juices — recommended as a must-try when visiting London.
Heads up: There are only two UK locations, in the City of London and Mayfair.
• Bar Crispin — TOPJAW
Dishes arrive one at a time, letting you build your own tasting menu, and every dish is praised as interesting, including the mackerel with its sweet charred flavor. The natural wine list is also a strength.
Heads up: It's very small, with only 14 seats, so even a group of four had to eat outside. Advice for groups of four: order the whole menu and re-order whatever you liked best.
• Donia — TOPJAW
Praised as having "a flavor profile unlike anywhere else," with particular praise for the ube choux dessert filled with ube ice cream.
Heads up: It's tucked inside Kingly Court on tourist-packed Carnaby Street, so it's easy to walk right past.
• The French House — Condé Nast Traveler
Everything — stocks, sauces, even the brioche — is made from scratch in a kitchen smaller and less equipped than this room; declared it London's best madeleine, with a chocolate mousse that's also light and excellent.
Heads up: Getting a table is famously difficult — 'everyone says they can't get a table, even I can't' — and it's a conversation-focused space that doesn't welcome photography.
• Brasserie Zedel — Harrison Webb
Raves about the lavish, film-set-like basement space, the live music, and the great value of the £19.95 three-course menu, calling the steak bordelaise a 'phenomenal dish.'
Heads up: There's no phone signal underground (free wifi is available). The set menu is much better value, making the £27.50 à la carte relatively expensive, and the bordelaise sometimes comes with a skimpy amount of sauce, so it's worth ordering extra peppercorn sauce on the side.
• Yauatcha Soho — 큰손 노희영
Praised as having the best dim sum, with the har gow shrimp being plump and fresh rather than frozen, and the fried rice turning a good yellow color thanks to quality British eggs.
• Quo Vadis — Condé Nast Traveler
Praised for a menu that weaves British produce into Italian and European regional cooking traditions; the celeriac remoulade made with buttermilk instead of mayonnaise was described as a revelation, and the walnut tart and meringue desserts were also excellent.
• The Parlour at sketch — Harrison Webb
The music is at just the right volume for conversation, the decor — ballet shoes, disco ball — is fun, and the stacked burger with its distinctive house ketchup exceeded expectations.
Heads up: The menu with mains is only available at lunch, from noon to 3:30pm; in the evening it's mostly takeaway and sandwiches. A 15% service charge applies, but joining the membership app gets you 20% off (£70 down to £58).
• Bar Termini — TOPJAW
Described as an iconic spot carrying on old Soho's legacy.
• Kricket Soho — TOPJAW
Named as one of host Will's favorite Indian restaurants.
• Bar Italia — TOPJAW
Mentioned as an iconic place preserving the atmosphere of old Soho.
• LAGOM — TOPJAW
Mentioned as a contender for London's best burger and a must-try.
